Champion of Fate by Kendare Blake is a fictional story with a complex worldbuilding, full of romance and with a lot of action. Even though there is not really a happy end, the book is the first one of an upcoming series. So there is hope.

 

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston.  An LGBT romance with characters based on famous people.
