No regrets

I wish there was something I could wish for,
a tiny, important thing, to hold it forever,
like the flight of an October butterfly,
the scent of a yellow rose,
the calm that falls after a reconciliation.

I listen to the gentle breathing of sleep,
watch the sun slip between uneasy clouds,
and accept the slow changing beauties instead.
